The first two paintings are paintings of two sculptures I bought in Dar-es-Salaam in 2000. One of them quite quickly crafted. The other bought in a local art centre. Both are dear to me - aesthetically but also as memories and metaphores.

The third picture is somewhat out of place in this section. Instead of reflection on African culture, it is reflection on European (Dutch) culture - and basically an insult to African culture and people. It is part of the way the west used to look at other cultures. Lest we forget.
